Whilst all instructors in the Gym Team are available for Inductions and Programme Changes, we do offer Personal Training at an additional charge. Having a Personal Trainer with you at each session, will help you stay focused on your routine and ensure you work to the best of your ability whether you just want to keep fit and keep the pounds off, or run your first marathon. Whatever your goals, a Personal Trainer can help you achieve them and sooner.
Our Gym Managers, Tina (left) and Lauren (below), are both fully qualified instructors joining the club in 2003 and 2011 respectively. Tina has attained the YMCA Advanced Fitness Instructor qualification, a City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Sport & Recreation and Circuit Training. During her time at the Club she has run the London Marathon, the Great North Run and competed in the London Team Triathlon taking on the running element. She has also run numerous Woodbridge 10k races, the Martlesham 10k, the Race for Life and Ipswich Twilight Run in 2015.
Lauren joined the Team in 2011 and qualified as a YMCA and City & Guilds Level 2 Advanced Fitness Instructor & Advanced level 3 Personal Trainer with distinction. Having been a Junior Age Group Suffolk Number 1 squash player, Lauren has gone on to achieve a Club Handicap Squash title in 2007 and Ladies Squash Champion in 2008. In the past she has played football for the Ipswich Town Women’s Football Club (4 years) and also competed in the arduous Whole Hog race twice, the Race for Life 3 times and has skydived too! She now teaches Spin and is available for gym programmes and Personal Training.
Zak joined Martlesham Leisure in 2016 after 7 years military service as a Royal Engineer but also helping develop and lead training programmes for recruits aspiring to be part of the Elite Airborne Forces. He is a qualified YMCA Level 2 Advanced Fitness Instructor and brings a passion for health and fitness to the team. Zak is a keen runner and cyclist and is a qualified as a SF3 ski instructor. Zak loves H.I.I.T workouts and runs a 30 minute session every Monday morning which is suitable for those with limited time. Zak is available for gym programmes and Personal Training (including Nutritional Services) to all members – please contact him at the club to discuss your needs.
Kelly has been a member of the club for over 10 years and has taken her passion for health and fitness to a new level and qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer. She has a love for running, taking part in several races, including the Monte Carlo 10k, and also plays Squash. Kelly is a member of the gym instruction team and is available for gym programmes and Personal Training – please contact her at the Club or on 07727995363 to discuss your needs.
Andrea joined the gym team at Martlesham Leisure after completing her Sixth Form. She studied Dance at A Level, which she has been doing since the age of 3, resulting in a keen interest in health and fitness, particularly the gym. She is now a Martlesham Leisure apprentice training as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and available to book for gym programmes.
Jenny has four years experience teaching group exercise classes and is a qualified Level 2 ETM instructor. She is also a Level 2 fitness instructor (currently working towards Level 3 Personal Trainer) and is available for gym induction and programmes. Jenny also instructs spin here at the club and looks forward to seeing you in the gym or at one of her classes.
